Saint Martin

You know, I've explored my fair share of Caribbean countries, and I've always found something captivating about each one. But then there's St. Martin, a place that somehow slipped through my usual travel radar. It's a real melting pot, no doubt, but trying to really get a grip on the vibes and culture there was like trying to catch a handful of sand - it just kept slipping through my fingers. Our hotel stay was on the dutch side of the Island, Saint Maarten. My travel buddy and I rented a sleek convertible car so we could venture out and explore both the French and the Dutch sides.

I remember this one day during my visit when I decided to shake things up a bit, got into our red mustang and we hopped on a ferry to the nearby island of Anguilla. There's something about cruising between these tropical islands that just adds a whole new layer of excitement.

After our little escapade to Anguilla, we returned to St. Martin, and even then, it still felt like there was this elusive essence just waiting to be discovered.

I've got this hope, though, that someday I'll give St. Martin another shot, but this time with a local as my guide. Maybe then, with a bit of insider insight, I'll finally unravel the mystery of what makes St. Martin truly special.
